One of those team members is Sarah Alexi, the Engage Life Coordinator at Holiday Crescent Heights. Since she joined the team in June 2024, she’s been planning all kinds of fun events that bring residents together and keep the days exciting.
Getting to know each other
When you ask Sarah what she loves most about her job, her answer is simple:
“I love spending time with the residents. I enjoy hearing their stories and seeing how happy they are during our events.”
Sarah isn’t just planning things to do – she’s helping people feel connected, seen and valued. Whether it’s a group activity or a quiet one-on-one moment, everything is planned with care.
What is Engage Life?
Engage Life is Atria’s special program that gives residents something to look forward to every day. It’s all about staying active, learning new things and having fun with others.
Every month, there’s a full calendar of events – and residents can even help shape it based on what they like to do.
Here are just a few things you might find on an Engage Life calendar:
- Exercise classes – yoga, walking groups and light strength training
- Art and music – painting, crafting or singing along with friends
- Learning opportunities – book clubs, tech help or guest speakers
- Social events – movie nights, game tournaments and themed parties
- Giving back – volunteer projects or mentoring others
“We try to make sure there’s something for everyone,” says Sarah. “And if someone has an idea for a new event, we do our best to make it happen.”
Sharing traditions and making memories
One of Sarah’s favorite events so far was the Holiday Season Home Tours. Residents decorated their apartments for the holidays, then opened their doors so neighbors could walk through, admire the decorations and hear the stories behind them.
“It was so heartwarming,” Sarah says. “Everyone shared memories about their ornaments and family traditions. You could feel the joy in every room.”
Moments like these help residents bond and make new friends – and that’s what community living is all about.
Helping everyone feel at home
Some residents are outgoing from day one. Others may feel shy or unsure at first. Sarah says the best part of her job is seeing those quieter residents slowly come out of their shells.
“You can see the change,” she explains. “They start smiling more, joining in more and building friendships. It’s a beautiful thing to watch.”
That’s the heart of Engage Life – creating moments where everyone feels like they belong.
Growing together, every day

“Every day, I learn something new from the people who live here,” Sarah says. “We’re all growing together.”
