"I live here and I love it" - Robert Armstron, Holiday Madison Meadows Resident quote

At Holiday Madison Meadows in Phoenix, Arizona, it’s all about community, positivity and those moments that remind you why people belong together. One look at Robert’s story, and you’ll see exactly what we mean.

Robert: The Ultimate People Connector

Robert is a one-of-a-kind guy who makes Madison Meadows feel like home for everyone. “He’s always smiling and full of energy,” says Hilary Samples, the Community Sales Manager at Madison Meadows. “Robert’s the kind of person who lights up every room – and he’s always got something fun going on.”

One of Robert’s favorite traditions is hosting Sunday football parties. “He makes his own hot sauce, serves wings and brings people together to watch the game,” Hilary shares. “Robert’s son will come over to spend time with everyone, and they have a great time.”

Bike Rides and Friendship Goals

Robert’s energy isn’t limited to football season. One day, Hilary spotted him riding his bike as she was heading home from the community. Riding right behind him was his neighbor, Frank, who had recently moved in next door.

The community has talked about making “Madison Meadows Bike Club” T-shirts with an eye-catching slogan on the back: “Ask me how to get a $1,000 credit!” It’s a nod to the Refer a Friend to Holiday program, which allows new residents to receive a rent credit when someone already living in the community refers them.*

When a Lyft Ride Changed Everything

Robert’s knack for connecting people was clear when he met Joe during a Lyft ride.

“Robert was riding home in a Lyft after an appointment,” Hilary explains. “Joe was his driver, and he was having a tough day, feeling stuck and unsure about what was next for him. He had a home he had to sell, and he just needed a change in his life.”

As Joe pulled into the parking lot, he glanced around and curiously asked Robert why he was being dropped off at what appeared to be a school. Robert couldn’t help but smile and say, “I live here. It’s a senior living community, and I love it.”

Intrigued by Robert’s enthusiasm, Joe couldn’t resist the invitation to step inside and see the place for himself. After his tour, he fell in love with the community. “He signed a lease that same day,” Hilary says. “He was worried about selling his house, but we connected him with a great realtor who made it happen fast.”

Remembering that day, Joe says, “I’m so glad I picked up Robert, because moving to Madison Meadows changed my life for the better.”

Sharing the Love

Robert inspires everyone around him, even after going through multiple heart surgeries. “He just keeps living life to the fullest,” Hilary says, and goes on to explain that Joe has also become a bit of a Madison Meadows ambassador.

“We gave him some of my business cards with his initials on them,” she says. “Now, whenever he’s out and about, he hands them to people who might be interested. When someone signs a lease, Joe gets a credit on his rent!”

Why Connections Matter

For Hilary, stories like Robert’s capture the spirit of community and connection that sets Holiday apart. “I’ve always believed we cross paths with people for a reason,” she says. “Robert was meant to meet Joe that day. Their story just proves how much we all need each other.”

With residents like Robert leading the way, every day is filled with adventure and new possibilities at Holiday.
